NewTek has said that they're with the Amiga till the end.  I will be
getting an 060 for my machine (once I get some cash, that is...), so I
will still have a viable renderer until those PPC Amigas come out in a
year or so, and then I'll get one of theose.  But NewTek is definatly
commited to the Amiga platform -- they are NOT jumping ship (info from
the NewTek BBS, taken from Tim Jenison)

Good point -- by then many would have left the Amiga, or at least have
suplemenalt rendering machines.  But there are mny who will use Amiga DR
even if it is 12 months in the future (The Glass Is Half Full :) )

I think the best thing to do would be to put in a Distrubuted-Rendering
Plug-In class, so that people could write there OWN outlets for the DR --
you could write a Network plug-on for ParNet that would work in LW, and
hte DR commands would go through that, or SerNet, or SneakerNet (OK,
maybe not...), TCP, Ethernet, InterNet (THAT would be neat!) and Envoy.
That would give the most power to the user.

Also, I think (just a guess here...) that when the New Video Toaster
(currently poorly named The Toaster ofr Windows, since it also works on
Amigas and will work on other systems in the future) is release (and thus
an Amiga upgrade to do the rendered wipes) is release, they willl likely
upgrade LW for that capability (or they might just make it a plug-in).
The 4.x upgrade may be closer than it seems...
